Education
Education is a basic and fundamental human right that works to alleviate poverty for women and men, level inequalities and ensure sustainable development. Education stands as a fundamental stepping stone to other basic rights for children and it is one of the most sustainable investments. Despite the right to education and the need for children to attain it being advocated for, children and youth are still out of school for social, economic and cultural reasons. SAVE AFRICA supports education uptake and implements programs which foster removal of barriers which hinter education uptake for youth and children.
This is to be achieved through:
- School feeding Programs
- Rural School and Infrastructure Development Schemes
- Basic Education Assistance Schemes (School fees, Stationery and Uniforms for Vulnerable children and children in emergencies)
- Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in schools
Food Security, Agriculture
SAVE AFRICA advances food security by helping families and individuals meet their need for a reliable source of quality food and sufficient resources to produce or purchase it. This supports global stability and prosperity. By addressing the root causes of hunger, this increases economic opportunity and growth among vulnerable communities. Food security means having a reliable source of food both economically and physically. SAVE AFRICA avails opportunities to the youth and women in taking the lead in the implementation of programs which boost food security, create climate resilient and sustainable food systems.
Climate Change
SAVE AFRICA also works to build climate resilient food systems and technologies. Whilst working to alleviate poverty which is exacerbated by climate changes, SAVE AFRICA, seeks to put into action climate resistant food systems and technologies which help communities and household withstand the pressures and effects of climate change. Just like Sustainable Development Goal 13, SAVE AFRICA strengthens resilience and adaptive capacity to climate related disasters and builds knowledge and capacity to meet climate action. SAVE AFRICA’s climate action projects also seek to help preserve the environment which continues to deplete due to human actions
Sustainable Livelihoods
SAVE AFRICA seeks to build resilient and sustainable projects among Africa’s most vulnerable communities and population groups. Sustainable refers to an individual’s ability to provide for themselves in a viably long manner. “Sustainability” also refers to the ability to undergo external shocks or stresses and recover from such traumas by maintaining or improving one’s livelihood. The sustainable livelihood framework provides a structure for holistic poverty alleviation action and focuses on finding resolutions to the problems of vulnerable communities by creating human-centered, participatory, and dynamic development opportunities. SAVE AFRICA implements sustainable livelihoods projects whilst focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals proposed by the United Nations. All of their 17 goals for 2030 are the aiming that the world needs to be achieved to ensure that “no one is left behind” and a sustainable world. Sustainable livelihoods are aimed at improving lives for all vulnerable women, children and the youth.
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
SAVE AFRICA works to provide access to clean water and reliable sanitation, and to promote basic hygiene practices in rural and urban areas, including in emergency situations for children and women. Water, sanitation and hygiene programmes are achieved by:
- Empowering rural communities to construct toilets and discourage open defecation. Rural communities are highly disadvantaged due to lack of information and resources. SAVE AFRICA take is it as its responsibility to provide information and improve sanitation standards for rural communities.
- Access to basic water in schools and communities – Children have the right to safe drinking water both at school and at home. SAVE AFRICA seeks to improve the accessibility of safe water for domestic consumption. Unsafe water is associated with diarrheal diseases, cholera, typhoid and dysentery. Accessibility to safe drinking water reduces the prevalence of diarrheal diseases which are caused by poor hygienic behaviors on handwashing and toilet uses. In rural areas, sometimes water is so scarce that the communities rely on unsafe surface water drinking. In this regard, SAVE AFRICA works to improve water drinking facilities for rural communities and schools.

Sustainable Energy Technologies & Systems
With the vastly growing global population, energy demand is only going to increase, as more people require energy supplies around the world. Sustainable energy is therefore finding methods of energy supply and consumption that help to make sure that current and future demands are met, ensure energy security for the future, and also reduce the effects on the environment. SAVE AFRICA is dedicated to creating sustainable energy in communities. It promotes access to low carbon clean energy through community trainings and capacity building, research, policy engagement, information dissemination and helping communities construct clean plants and technology systems through readily available resources. Sustainable energy also advances development and climate goals
Research
Research is an integral mode for driving change in communities. Research influences decision making. SAVE AFRICA takes part in research in various areas which are essential for Africa’s development, this includes thematic areas such as, gender, education, sustainable development and women empowerment.
